CALL Project - Learning English Literature by Podcast

Let's start our breakfast with the question 'What do you think at the first time when you hear 'podcast' ?' Do you imagine that podcast is an activity interviewing the informan like Mr. Deddy Courbuzier does in his youtube channel? If YES, WE ARE THE SAME! LOL 😂 Ehm, okay, it indicates that we are soooo ancient or.... we step too far away?

Stop! Let's take it seriously. Actually our first thinking is not totally wrong. What Mr. Deddy Courbuzier does in his channel can be called podcast - in the form of video. So, Guys, first, podcast is in the form of audio, then it develops into video form too nowadays.

According to Adieb (2020), a content writer in Indonesia, generally, podcast is an audio recording that anyone can listen to. The term 'podcast' is taken from the iPod and broadcast. The Pod is taken from the digital media player from Apple's "iPod" and the 'cast' is taken from the radio term "broadcast". Podcast can be found on spotify, iTunes, Soundcloud, and so forth.

So, what's the relation between podcast and learning English literature? Learning English can be by various ways, for example via podcast. By hearing podcast, we can increase our listening skill. One of literature that will be fun to hear by podcast is short story. Why? You will feel like you were a child when there is someone tell you short story like fairytale, etc. Also, it will be easier for you to learn English via literature since it's not more than 5 pages.

Well, let's get started!

Since some days to go are christmas, my group podcast recommend you three short story which are full of  Christmas vibe.

Here are the things we can learn about English through literature (short story):

1. Grammar

The whole  text in short story book is gramatically correct because it passed editing process before it is published. The structure is surely simple to simplify the meaning, so the readers can learn the structure.

2. Vocabulary

Since it is short story, the diction is so simple. Even though we don't know the meaning exactly, but we can still guess it.

3. Value/Culture

When learning a language, a culture surely attaches. We get more insight about culture outside ours.
